New deep well brings clean water to Horowpothana

On 24 April 2025, the community of Horowpothana, Anuradhapura, gathered to inaugurate a new deep water well at the Muhiyatheen Jumma Mosque. Elders and children raised their hands in dua as clean water flowed for the first time.

The project included a deep well and a storage tank, delivering safe drinking water to local families and the children of the nearby madrasa. Before its construction, many in the village relied on distant and unsafe water sources.

Clean water is the foundation of a healthy, dignified life. A single well like this one can serve a community for decades, letting children attend school instead of fetching water, and reducing waterborne disease. This is the heart of our Clean Water for All programme.
